Steam Plant Grill

Now that so many of you have caught on to the fact that the Steam Plant Grill has an on-site brewery where we make Coeur d'Alene Brewing Company's fine hand-crafted beers, we keep hearing one question over and over..."What exactly is a Growler?" well, here's your answer...

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one's home by means of a small-galvanized pail. Rumor has it that when the beer sloshed around the pail, it created a rumbling sound as the CO2 escaped through the lid, thus the term "growler" was coined.

From the Kitchen

When Chef Matthews came cross country on the wagon train as a little boy, his Nana used to put together quite the spread. He is proud to share one of her favorite family recipes, the Imperial Filet - natural-raised tenderloin hand-cut into eight-ounce steaks, cold-smoked with mesquite wood, wrapped in tri-peppered bacon and finished to your specifications on the broiler. Click on the link below to see what Chef has in store for your dining pleasure.
